Meditation Nashville

Welcome to One Dharma Nashville!

One Dharma Nashville reflects an emerging Western Buddhism that maintains an allegiance to a very basic question: "What works to free the mind from suffering and awaken the heart to compassion?" Although Buddhism has evolved differently in different times and places, the essential dharma remains the same. One Dharma Nashville aims to take what is useful and beneficial from different traditions to enhance and deepen the practice experience. The three main Buddhist traditions of Zen, Vipassana and Tibetan have in common certian key elements and practices such as mindfulness, lovingkindness and compassion. These practices took root from Buddha's strong aspiration that all beings find peace and freedom from suffering. At One Dharma we put the emphasis on these core practices, which can be utilized by anyone whether Buddhist or not.

One Dharma Nashville meets each Monday night, 7 - 8:30 at the 12South Dharma Center, 2301 12th Avenue South. We're at the corner of 12th and Linden, above Serendipity. To enter, go to the back of the building (on Linden) up the stairs and take the door to the right. There are usually plenty of parking spaces on 12th and some on Linden, but we also have reserved spaces at the church diretly across the street on 12th. If you park there, be sure to put a piece of paper in your dashboard with "2301 Building" on it. Whether you are an experienced meditator or completely new to Buddhist teachings and practices, you are welcome to join us for meditation, chanting and discussion. For your first visit, please plan to arrive about fifteen minutes early for orientation. There is no cost to attend, but donations are appreciated to help cover the cost of rent and supplies. Please write Lisa Ernst with any questions.
